What information do I need to provide?

Any ideas you may have about how you want your site to look, including nuber of pages, style, font, colours etc. and what you expect it to be able to do (e.g. do you want to collect email addresses for a mailing list, or for customers to be able to make bookings/purchases online?).

This can be either designed/drafted in MS Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, or simply drawn on a piece of paper and either scanned and emailed, or sent by post.

You will also need to provide any images you want to use, and details of which pages they are for and where on the page you want them to appear.

I don't know where to start - help!

Take a look at some of the many websites already on the web.

If you've seen a website you like, make a note of the web address (URL).

If you see something in a website (e.g. a form, or a functionality) that you like, make a note of the web address (URL) and what you like about it.

If you see something you don't like, think of ways in which you could improve it for your site.

If you already have marketing materials, forward a copy of these, as they can provide information on colour schemes, font styles and the type of image you're trying to create.

How long will it take to build?

This depends on the complexity of your requirements, but a simple site would usually take about 7 to 14 days.

What format/file type is needed for images?

Any format could be used, but the best file types are .jpg, .gif and .png

Where can I get images from if I do not have any of my own?

We can source images on your bealf, or you can try websites such as Big Stock Photo

What about the web address/URL - where can I get this from, and how much will it cost?

Some web hosting packages offer a free .co.uk domain name as part of the package, alternatively, you can choose to buy one seperately from another provider e.g.

What about web hosting - where can I get this from, and how much will it cost?

The best value web hosting that I have found so far is: Streamline.net, which costs c.£20 per year.

Other clients of mine have used FastHosts, which costs c.£4 per month.

What if I need to change something?

If you purchase one of our packages, changes made during the initial phase are free of charge.

Changes after completion are charged at the normal rate, or you can purchase one of our maintenance packages.

Do I need any special software?

This depends on the initial setup of the site.

If you choose web hosting with a built in site-builder, then you will be able to update the site from your web browser. (this is usually an optional extra in the hosting package)

If you choose not to use the site-builder option, then you will need a HTML editor such as DreamWeaver to be able to update your site.

My files are too big to email - how can I get them to you?

Try zipping the files to compress them.

If they are still too big, At present the only option is to send them on a CD, but a file-upload section will be available on the site shortly for this purpose.
